Syllabus Of SSC CGL, CHSL, MTS-
The Staff Selection Commission conducts various exams every year to fill
vacant seats in the government departments like Inspectors, Stenographers,
Data Entry Operators and LDCs and UDCs in various departments and ministries.
So before you begin your preparations, you must be familiar with the different
levels of examinations the commission conducts for different levels of
posts.
- SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level) Exams- Through CGL, you can get the highest posts SSC has to offer. You can become Examiner, Income Tax Inspector, or Upper Divisional Clerk in various departments and ministries of the Government. As exciting as it sounds, CGL is tough to crack as you have to go through 3 to 4 tiers - Prelims, Mains, Essay/Letter writing, and Computer proficiency test. To make it easy for you, the latter two are just qualifying in nature.
- SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) Exams- Through CHSL, you can become Data Entry Operator, Postal/Sorting Assistant or Lower Divisional Clerk. It is easier compared to CGL in toughness. Also, you have to go through 3 tiers only-Prelims, Essay/Letter writing and Typing test. Like CGL, the latter two are qualifying in nature.
- SSC MTS (Multi Tasking Staff) Exams- It is the easiest exam on the ladder of SSC. Cracking this exam allows you to become a Multi Tasking Staff in various departments of the Government. There are only two tiers- Prelims and Essay/Letter writing.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA-

EXAM PATTERN IN PRELIMS-
All these exams conducted by SSC follow the same exam pattern in the prelims differing only in their levels of difficulty. CGL is toughest, hence it requires patience and thorough study whereas CHSL and MTS are relatively easy and can be prepared in lesser time. For CGL and CHSL exams, you will be given 1 hour only to solve 100 objective questions whereas, in MTS, you will have an ample time of 1 hour 30 minutes.

EXAM PATTERN IN CGL MAINS-
SSC CGL Mains is the most difficult when it comes to cracking CGL. Only a meticulous study of these subjects can get you through this.

EXAM PATTERN IN CHSL TIER 2-
It is a descriptive test in nature where you will be given 1 hour to write an essay in 200-250 words and a letter/application in 150 words. The test will be of 100 marks out of which 33% marks is compulsory to qualify this exam.
EXAM PATTERN IN MTS TIER 2-
It is also the same as CHSL Tier-2 except that it is easier. In MTS Tier-2,
you will be asked to write either an essay or a letter in 30 minutes. The test will be of 50 marks.
